Easter is just around the corner! Only 4 weeks away. It seems like there’s been hot cross buns available in the supermarket since Boxing Day! And Cadbury Crème Eggs have taken over the chocolate aisles. But Easter is not about chocolate, bunnies and hot cross buns.

Easter is all about the sacrifice that Jesus made on the Cross. He died for our sins and rose again in victory over death. It’s also about the opportunity we now have to enter into a personal and real relationship with Jesus. One of the key discipleship steps in our Christian Journey is to be baptised in water.

With Water Baptism, we align our hearts with Jesus and follow Him in obedience. Acts 2:38 says "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Jesus was baptised by John in the Jordan River. Matthew 3:13-17. He was baptised knowing that the going down into the water would symbolise his death on the cross and the rising would symbolise him being raised from the dead. That all of this was to come.

But when we go through the waters of Baptism, we go in the knowledge of what Jesus has already done. When we pass through the water, it symbolises us putting to death our old way of living and rising again with Christ, a new creation. We COME ALIVE in Him

Water baptism is an essential part of the Christian Journey. The simple act declares publicly, “I am a follower of Jesus!” It is shouting it from the rooftops and not being ashamed.

Have a blessed week.
We love you Church!
