Course OverviewThe Local Church Certificate in Ministry provides a unique opportunity to develop and connect the body of Christ. Based upon Southern Cross College's excellent distance learning modules, students spend tine reflecting and studying at their own pace. Each subject is delivered via DVD, thus turning the tutorial into a lecture room. A facilitator oversees the group, encouraging and providing guidance with the course material and DVD lectures. Eight subjects are covered, providing the student sound, practical grounding in the word of God. The fieldwork component (practicum subjects) of the course provides 25% hands-on training in the local church, a valuable asset to any Senior Pastor. This program is an amazing opportunity to not only empower the individual but will also provide a safe environment in which to develop relationships. Regardless of your background or age group, this course brings with it the uniting bond of the Word and invariably, community. Course SubjectsIntroduction to the Old Testament The Old Testament is both strangely familiar and totally foreign to most of us. We will explore the major themes of the Old Testament in order to know better the God revealed therein. Introduction to the New Testament We each need to develop a better understanding of this foundational document of the Christian faith. We address the history, theology and themes of the New Testament. Christian Discipleship Christian Discipleship introduces students to contemporary Christian approaches to discipleship. It focuses particularly on the way in which Pentecostal/Charismatic movements have experienced God. Christian World View What do we believe and how should it affect our lives? Theology is the very practical exercise of "faith seeking understanding" In this introductory subject we establish the importance of worldview for life, vocation and ministry, as well as setting out the foundations of Christian worldview, based on the broad parameters of the Gospel. Leadership Principles Both within the church and in society there is evidence of rapid change concerning the place of leadership and management practices. We look at the place of leadership and various approaches to leadership within the church. Evangelism Evangelism is an essential expression of healthy Christian faith. We examine the components of effective evangelism and discipleship, and emphasise the empowering role of the Holy Spirit in evangelism. Fieldwork 1: Introduction to Church Ministries Provides opportunity for exposure to the theory and practice of various church ministries including; the components of Sunday meetings, children’s ministry, youth ministry, small groups, large events, church administration and counselling. Fieldwork 2: Church Leadership Provides opportunity to participate in specific ministry functions including; leading a prayer meeting, preparing and delivering a message for children, youth and adults, worship leading, altar ministry and visitation. Practical Ministry Skills with Ps Zoran Paunovich Discover the six indicators to effective preaching as you explore the tips and techniques to creative communication skills. You will be introduced to the nine non-negotiables of successful team ministry as well as various helpful approaches to conflict management. Learn the importance of cell ministry and the four types of small groups, as well as the six levels of the relational pyramid. Prophetic School Ps Zoran Paunovich Discover the importance of the prophetic ministry and the difference between the spirit of prophecy, the gift and office of a prophet. Learn the dynamics of the prophetic in relation to interpreting dreams & visions. Understand the difference between diagnostic and prognostic prophecy and prophetic preparation.
