FoodbankThe Christian Emergency Food Centre exists "to provide emergency food relief in the name of Jesus Christ with compassion, commitment and understanding, upholding dignity" "I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.." Matthew 25:35 The CEFC is a unique organisation in that Harvest Christian Church is one of nine Christian churches working in harmony to achieve our mission statement [above]. CEFC comes under the covering of the Ministers Association in Horsham and currently there are about 70 volunteers from these churches who work at the centre, which has been in operation since 1998. CEFC has become the "hub of the wheel" in our region, with many agencies, both church and secular, coming to the centre for all kinds of assistance. The agency now covers thousands of square kilometers in the Mallee and Wimmera, and thanks to God, it has achieved terrific credibility in these communities. The centre operates Monday to Friday from 1pm to 4pm. All of CEFC’s needs are met by donation only! There is still much work to be done; the dependency cycle is very difficult to break, and our Christian values are ever before us, as the centre tries to find the best way to serve those in the community who are seeking support.
