Choices, Decisions & Outcomes

Harvest Christian Church has several of our ladies involved as part of a team of speakers who present the Choices, Decsions & Outcomes program to secondary schools.The program has been put together by Jane Power, and is an innovative, value based education program for adolescents encouraging responsible decision making regarding sexuality. The program is uniquely tailored to suit each level from, years 7 to 10. The program appeals to both male and female and is also presented to youth ministries in various churches.

Students Feedback

The following student responses are a compilation of three high schools that were visited. Because of privacy reasons, names of students and schools have been concealed.

“I like today’s session, found it very interesting.”

What did you find interesting?
“How the baby is fully developed at 10-12 weeks.”
“How many things can go wrong for females and nothing much to males.”
“The number of the diseases you could catch and how gross they are.”
“Going out with someone doesn’t mean I should forget my friends.”

Do you like the small group discussions?
“Yes, because we could ask more questions.”
“Yes, good to hear other ideas.”
“Yes, because you could talk about things you would never talk about.”

Has the session helped you understand the importance of making the right decision about your relationship?
“It has helped me by taking things slowly and not to rush things and not to go past the line.”
“It has made a difference in what I would do when I’m older.”
“To be careful and not to be forced into something I don’t want to do.”
“This session has helped me to consider more options.”

Will you feel comfortable talking to your parents about this session?
“Yes I would.”
“Probably not, I don’t find I can talk to my parents.”
“Yes, I think so.”
“No, they are wogs.”

Would you have liked any more information?
“I thought it was well covered.”
“Umm not really.”
“No, I would have asked if I did.”

“The information was great and plenty of it.”
